vagal nerve stimulation
- an adjunctive treatment for patients with intractable epilepsy, particularly complex partial or secondarily generalized seizures; stimulation is delivered to the left vagus nerve in the neck, usually in 30-second bursts every 5-1/2 minutes by a stimulator implanted in the anterior chest wall.
