Pronunciation (thal′ă-mot′ŏ-mē)
- Destruction of a selected portion of the thalamus by stereotaxy for the relief of pain, involuntary movements, epilepsy, and, rarely, emotional disturbances; produces few, if any, neurologic deficits or undesirable personality changes.
